Sunstone is a gemsona created by N.R. Wynter. She's an era 2 sunstone who works at a gem factory. One day, she became infatuated by mysterious dancer known as Rainbow Moonstone. They gradually fell in love, eventually deciding to fuse and become Rainbow Lattice Sunstone. Knowing they couldn't stay on Homeworld, they escaped to a planet they knew no one would look for them: Earth.

  • Sunstone is a common plagioclase and/or potassium feldspar.
    • It has a chemical composition of (Ca,Na)(AlSi)2Si2O8, a hardness of 6 - 6½, and a triclinic crystal system.
  • Its schiller effect is attributed to hematite, pyrite, and goethite platelets.
  • Sunstones occur in small basalt flows.
  • It is usually yellow, orange, and/or reddish in color.
  • Native Americans were said to be the first collectors of sunstone.
  • Significant sunstone mines are located in India, Canada, Madagascar, Norway, Russia and the United States.
  • Sunstone is the state gemstone of Oregon, USA.
  • The gem gets its name from its color and spangled appearance, reminiscent of the sun.
    • Aventurine feldspar, sunstone's alternate name, have different meanings.
      • Aventurine comes from the Italian word avventura meaning “by chance”. It actually references to goldstone, the original holder of the name aventurine, that was created by accident by an Italian glass maker.
      • Feldspar comes from the German words “feld” meaning “field” and “spath”, “a rock that does not contain an ore”.
  • According to Native American lore, the blood of a great warrior dropped onto pieces of sunstone. The blood carried his warrior spirit into them, coloring them with shades of red and giving them sacred powers.
  • Metaphysically, sunstone is called the stone of illumination and leadership. It grants the wearer personal power, freedom, and expanded consciousness. It grants independence and strength, bestowing the user with leadership qualities.
    • Traditionally, sunstones have been associated with good luck, wealth, protection, and enthusiasm.
